"People will wait for ME. I AM the Doctor"
-Dr. Jeremy Pollock when asked what he would like at Starbucks
You GOT CHIANG'D:
There are classic tag lines that we have all heard of. We use them sparingly, but when we do, everyone understands what we mean as "the dig" sets in. Then, there are tag lines that come about organically. These gems, that come to fruition in the moment, hit like a Ferrari running into a brick wall at 100 MPH. They speak for themselves, and they tell a story in few words. This past Sunday, on BCC's beautiful East Course, something I had not seen happen before manifested. Gates Blair was blindsided by something he never thought he would experience. Gates GOT CHIANG'D! Alex Kirby, entering his face off against Gates, was sitting at a flush 8.8 HI. Gates, coming in at a 6.4 HI, and crushing his drives all day, could not overcome the Chiang-ing that was about to happen. While Alex only won the match 10-8, what was more demoralizing was that he frequently sprayed his initial drives, only to follow up with two PGA level shots and close out hole after hole. Upon the days end, both competitors ended with 80's on their scorecards. Are these two elite athletes truly almost 2.5 strokes removed from each other? I think it's more likely that we just witnessed the first Chiang-ing (not delivered by the man himself) of the 2022 CL season. Who will be next???
The trouble with Doctors:
We all have experienced it. You show up to your Doctor's office 15 minutes early, determined to go in for your appointment ON TIME. Despite your forethought, the punctuality you demonstrated was in vain. Doctors are notorious for being late, for making everyone go about life on THEIR time. Once such instance took place a long way from any Doctors offices, on the left side Apple orchard of the East course's third hole. Doctor Jeremy Pollock, an astute Cardiologist whom I am certain subscribes to the old adage, "I am a Doctor, that mother fucker can wait for ME!", was right in his element. After a leaky drive to the left side of the 3rd hole, Jeremy and his Caddie, Carlos, searched endlessly for the drive gone awry. After the rest of the foursome had hit their second (and third) shots, we expected the young Doctor to concede the lost ball and drop another. As about 8 minutes had past, it appeared to be a foregone conclusion, if not for the sake of Golf rules, then at least for the sake of pace of play! SUDDENLY, the ball was found by the keenly eye' Caddie Carlos, Dr. Pollock plays his ball and managed to split the hole on a solid putt. There appears to be only one thing that comes to mind when living through, and since telling, this story....#timinggate2022!
